Why sellers use it
- Buyer-first keyword ideas. Built around the phrases real shoppers type for products like yours — not single generic words nobody searches.
- Long-tail phrases included. Specific multi-word searches like “personalized leather dog collar” catch buyers who are ready to purchase.
- Gift and occasion angles. A huge share of Etsy searches are gifts — the tool surfaces phrases like “gift for new mom” where they fit your product.
- Sized for Etsy's limits. Ideas arrive ready to fit the 140-character title and the 20-character tag slots, so nothing needs trimming.
- Mapped to your fields. See which keywords belong at the front of the title and which belong in the tag slots — no guessing.
- Free for 5 full listings a month — keywords plus the finished title, description, and all 13 tags.

Frequently asked questions
Where do Etsy keywords go?
Your strongest keywords go at the front of the title — Etsy weighs the beginning most heavily. The rest fill your 13 tag slots. Your attributes and description pick up anything left over.
What's the difference between short-tail and long-tail keywords?
Short-tail is broad — "candle." Long-tail is specific — "vanilla bourbon soy candle gift." Broad terms get more searches but more competition; long-tail catches buyers searching for exactly what you sell, and those buyers convert better.
How many keywords should an Etsy listing have?
Think in terms of slots, not a count: front-load the title with your best 2–3 phrases, then fill all 13 tag slots with additional keywords. Don't repeat the same word in both — spend the space on new terms.
Should my keywords match my tags exactly?
Your tags should be real phrases a buyer would type — and it's fine if your strongest 2–3 also lead your title — just don't copy the whole title into the tags.
Do keywords in the description help with ranking?
Titles and tags carry far more ranking weight. Keywords in the description won't hurt, but the description's real job is converting — answering questions and giving buyers the confidence to hit buy.
